See Via Sol's March Progress!

March has been a productive month on the Via Sol construction site even as the crews worked through the fickle Minnesota spring weather. In kinship with USPS letter carriers, neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these hard workers from the swift completion of the Via Sol community.

Happy learning and happy living!

Via Sol March Construction

Outside amid the ever-changing elements, Greiner’s crews are almost done with the Nichiha siding panels, the brick, and the stucco. Soon, Via Sol will be fully covered and the stucco will be ready to host artwork. As the weather warms up, our site work team with Rachel and our landscape architects with Barr will begin preparing the site for the Urban Forest. Offsite, Serigraphics completed a prototype light box for Via Sol’s future exterior sign as well as prototypes of the fun dry erase marker wall pieces featured in the three playrooms.

Inside, we have more cabinets, flooring, granite countertops and windowsills, fixtures, and doors going in from the top fifth floor down to the first floor. In March, installation of appliances in apartments and of a fun material around entry doors called Viroc have begun on the upper floors. Our MSR Design interior designers and architects have worked diligently to select materials that are nontoxic, sustainable, and durable, creating healthy homes for our future residents. Escape Fire is almost done installing the full fire suppression system to keep our residents safe. Horwitz continues working on Via Sol’s super efficient, comfortable, and quiet four-pipe heating and cooling system with DOAS (dedicated outdoor air system bringing filtered air to each apartment).

Work is moving quickly as we prepare to welcome residents this summer. Stay tuned for more updates as we build these homes that are healthy for people and the planet.
